What are we looking for?

Academic Qualifications
Good Honours degree (normally a 2:1 or above classification).
Candidates should also have GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent) in English Language, Mathematics and Science (preferably Combined), in addition to an academic profile that offers a suitable base for the development of teaching across the full range of subjects within the primary National Curriculum, Religious Education, Citizenship and Personal, Social and Health Education and Drama.

Experience in Schools
Admissions tutors will consider the recent experience applicants have had in state maintained primary schools. Experience in school is an essential pre-requisite of the programme. Applicants should be prepared to discuss their insights and reflections at interview.

Personal Qualities and Suitability for Teaching
Teaching is both a demanding and rewarding job. Applicants need to be enthusiastic and committed and able to take responsibility for their continuing professional development. They need to value and respect all the children they work with and be concerned for raising their educational achievement. They need to respect children's social, cultural, linguistic, religious and ethnic backgrounds and have the highest expectations for all. Applicants will need to demonstrate that they are capable of reflective practice; that they can learn from their experiences and use research and experience to inform their work with children. Applicants should also indicate any additional experiences, hobbies or interests appropriate to the role of the teacher.

Additional Interests or Experiences
We are looking for enthusiastic and committed professionals willing and able to take responsibility for their personal professional development.
